I want to start off with a disclaimer. Matt Facas started out several years ago as some guy I met at a gathering, then he became a guy I knew, then an acquaintance and now I consider him a friend. Before you think my views are too bias, check out some of my other reviews, I can be brutal. With that knowledge I talked to Matt and let him know I wanted to do a review of his products, I did not want or need any since I had many of them on hand. I could see the nervous look in his eyes, he was wondering how tough I was going to be. Well, I am just as tough as with any product I review.
I will start off with where you can find his company Ares Tactical. Check them out at http://www.arestactical.net/ or at https://www.facebook.com/arestactical on FaceBook.
At Ares Tactical, they offer pistol holsters, knife sheaths, Shotgun shell holders, pistol magazine pouch, flashlight pouch, even AR and M1A Kydex pouches.
All products are made of Kydex for strength. They primarily use .08 Kydex but can work with other thicknesses depending on the job/need.
Each item is custom made. At Ares Tactical they make the holsters, sheathes et al as you request them. While they have some standard pre made holsters that fit the most common guns, you can get one made for your gun. Carry a Hi-Point, Tokarev, Makarov P64 or Canik 55? You can bring your gun and magazines in, pick your color(s), within a few days, or same day in many cases, you will have a custom holster and magazine pouch. Fast turnaround!
If you are in the market for a hybrid holster with leather next to your body and Kydex holding the gun or magazines or flashlight, they make those too.
I know there are a lot of people out there making plastic holsters, and some even use Kydex. Those that I have met and run across in the Ozarks are out to sell a product. Ares Tactical is different. Matt, takes the time to polish the edges for better looks and this removes the sharp edges that cut or snag on clothing and hands.
Below are pictures of some of items I have purchased from Ares Tactical over the last couple of years. As you can see there are numerous holes in each item for various mounting positions and angles. If you wear Molle or ALICE gear or just a belt, the provided mounting holes should exceed your need.
If you notice on the handgun holsters below, the muzzles / crowns are wrapped for protection. It also protects your clothes from the powder on the barrels when you are training.
Another thing you will notice from my pictures and their web site, they have a HUGE variety of colors.
There is something you should know, Matt is an actual shooter. He participates and is a Range Officer for 3 Gun and IDPA where he uses his holsters (and so do I). He also was a shooter in the military and does Personal Security, so his gear is used in real work.
Ares Tactical is a Veteran owned business and of course, all products are “Made in the USA”.
Matt provides a lifetime warranty, as long as he is alive, he will warranty the product. He can do this because of the quality and attention to detail.
If you have read this far, you can see how nice of Bar-B-Que holsters you can get from Ares Tactical, however I have not told you about the wear and tear.
I have worn these at IDPA and 3 Gun events, my wife has worn the pink. I have used them as my EDC and did a 2 week trek with the tan SOG holster. They have been dropped, kicked, stepped on and still look good and function flawlessly. I have frozen them both by outside weather and in the chest freezer and then heated them up quickly (by a fire and in a 200 degree oven) without warping or other noticeable damage.
So my recommendation of Ares Tactical products? Buy up and buy now!
Until we meet again, have a virus free week!
