ID theft is back in the front pages so to speak. With the breaches at a couple of major retailers on every channel, with Identities being stolen from online stores and falsely created by harvesting profile information from various social media sites, I have more and more people asking what they can do to protect themselves.
I remind everyone that no matter how secure you think you are, no matter how safe and secure what you do, others can always mess things up. Super secure computers with high end Unified Threat Managers like SonicWall, having aluminum and RFID resistant wallets and your blu-tooth turned off on your phone, tablet and media device do not guarantee protection.
In all honesty you cannot control retail and online stores. You really need to get a 30-day free trial of LifeLock Ultimate and if you decide to buy it you will save 10% off your final purchase. It is what I use and recommend. It makes a difference when you have someone on your side. Credit card monitoring normally is only for 1 card, even then with debit cards, they may not be covered, let alone direct bank withdrawals.
This is what I advise, oh yeah, by the way, I have had it happen to me too, before LifeLock. It (ID and credit card theft) stinks and so does the time, effort and cost in fixing things back to “normal”.
Until we meet again, have a virus free and ID theft free week
